The Rum Diary Movie Review

The Drama-Mystery-Thriller movies are truly a deadly combination for any moviegoer. Indeed, the mystery and thriller although are preferred genres and one such movie releasing this Friday is The Rum Diary which primarily narrates on the aforesaid genres.

The Johnny Depp starrer "The Rum Diary" is an adaptation of a novel written by Hunter S. Thompson. The novel with the same name is the story of Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp), a travelling journalist, who is exhausted with the chaos and the insanity of New York City.

Paul to get a complete rejuvenation from this current noise and disturbances travels to Puerto Rico and also to write for a local San Juan newspaper that is owned by the browbeaten Edward Lotterman, editor of San Juan.

The untouched islands of Puerto Rico along with the embracing the rum-soaked regime of Paul gives him a chance to get romantically involved with an extremely gorgeous American woman, Chenault, (Amber Heard). The gorgeous lady's fiancee Sanderson (Aaron Eckhart) is an entrepreneur who deals in troublesome property transactions. The rest of the story is about Pual's discovery about himself as honest writer and also his highest priority, which is integrity.
