Sitting for longs hours without any interruption can make one prone to cancer. It is necessary to move around and do some exercises says Neville Owen belonging to the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute in Australia. The one to two minutes breaks that one takes can reduce the molecules in the body which are associated with risk of developing cancer.
Says Owen in Live Science, "It seems highly likely that the longer you sit, the higher your risk of cancer," Research says that those who workout on treadmill for 30 minutes or exercise physically are only active for 3 percent of the day only.
It is recommended that we avoid sitting for long periods of time and get up several times to move around as this would definitely keep us in better shape and less prone to cancer.
Owen says that breaks taken during continuous sitting is also not only good for preventing the risk of developing cancer but also for slimmer waist line, insulin resistance and lesser levels of inflammation which all cause cancer.
As we are aware obesity among the younger people has been also on the increase and even children who tend to sit glued to the computer as well as television become obese. Obesity can lead to cancer.
Next time you sit in front of a computer in the office or at home for long periods of time, take time out by taking small breaks as this will keep you more healthy.
