Poush Restaurant - A Sequel To Paradise!

If you want to experience the rich culture and exquisite ambience of picturesque Kashmir, then you must head towards Poush Restaurant, Mumbai. This wonderful eatery not only recreates the magnificence that is Kashmir but also serves you with authentic Kashmiri cuisine. The wonderful interiors are a sight to behold. Having personally visited this place, I can say that the minute you enter, you are transported to another world altogether. Poush, meaning flower in Kashmiri, truly keeps the essence of its special place alive. The unique setting of this place includes replicas of the real Shikaras (Houseboats) where one can sit comfortably and relish the scrumptious food. Thoughtful decor and dim royal lighting too adds to the brilliance of this place.

You can begin your expedition with a hot tantalising cup of Kahwa which is an exotic Kashmiri herbal tea. It's prepared by mixing different Herbs such as Saffron, Cinnamon and Cardamom. For appetizers one can order a meat platter which is replete with Non Vegetarian fare like Seekh kebab, Kabargaha, Kukur kanti and Tandoori Chicken. The main course consists of a Wazwan thali that includes dishes like Ghosthaba, Rista, Thool razma, Meethi maaz and is served with Rice, Naans, Kebab and Raita. If you don't want to have the heavy spicy thali then you can simply order the famous Rogan josh dish served with Roti. Vegetarians can rely on appetizers like Naider Palak tikki and Kashmiri cottage cheese. For main course they can go in for the Dahi-batta thal which includes yummy dishes like Chaaman, Tsok Vangun, Naider Palak, Razma and Dum Aloo. I must add here that Kashmiri Rajma tastes miles and miles better than other north Indian styles. The Saffron Phirni for dessert completed my meal in the perfect manner. Towards the end of my visit I enjoyed a flavoured hookah which further elevated my spirits. So, whenever you visit Mumbai do make sure that you book a shikara at this restaurant.
